The Saaleradweg was opened in 1994. I start my tour to following the River Saale from its source in the Fichtelgebirge mountains via Jena and Naumburg to Barby, where it flows into the Elbe. It's not only the idyllic valley of the Saale river attracting me, but the impressive mixture of romantic castles, wine, culture and history. The 403 km long River Saale Cycle Route is one of the most charming and varied river cycle routes in Germany.

For more than 25 years, the River Saale Cycle Route has connected the three federal states of Bavaria, Thuringia and Saxony-Anhalt. So I am not only browsing a beautiful region, here's historical soil, which must be considered as a symbol of the German reunification.
The path follows the flow of the river and I visit all the sights and hidden corners to relax and savour.
