Camp Grounds in Europe

Camping officiel, Echternach

Text & Photos: Bert Schwarz

About 10 minutes from the town centre of Echternach lies the official camping site of the tourist office embedded in a green landscape.

Although there is a main road between the campsite and the little river Sauer, it was surprisingly quiet, because when it comes to sleeping we are very sensitive and pleasantly surprised how well the trees and the higher terrain keep the noise level down.

Sleeping & other comforts

The sanitary facilities are without fault and blame. Somehow came into the day, but clean and they work perfectly.

The power supply at the pitches no longer corresponds to today's technical standards: EC sockets are not available and an adapter to Schuko plugs is required.

The pitches themselves are of different sizes and quite flat. We had no difficulties to align our caravan along the longitudinal axis. We found the hedges separating the individual pitches convenient.

There are also only gravel pitches for motorhomes.

The fresh water supply is old-fashioned, but still acceptable: water must be fetched from taps that are too far away for a hose connection, but are available in sufficient numbers on the site.

The possibilities

Echternach is the capital of the Mëllerdall, which can be discovered on foot or by bike. The town itself also has some very interesting things to offer, such as the Roman villa, churches, pretty old town, and much more, so that boredom certainly does not arise. - For breakfast you can shop at several bakers in the Bahnhofstrasse.

Our recommendation

Status: Spring 2018

Ranking: 9.7 / 10

The only 9.7 of 10 possible points are due to the equipment (fresh water, power supply). There is a need for investment. - More information can be found directly on the campsite's website. The opening hours should not be overlooked, from 01 April to 30 October the campsite is open.

Conclusion

Recommendable.
