Here the survival if Europe's last bisons is secured. And also the European wild horses have a refuge here. Located in the heart of the Haut-Thorenc region, the Monts d'Azur Biological Reserve is an exceptional animal reserve, where ancestral and surprising species of fauna and flora meet: elk, Przewalski horses, European bison, deer.

The biological reserve of the Monts d'Azur also provides comfortable accommodation, such as the ecolodges or a bioclimatic villa. You may spend the night in the Haut-Thorenc area and enjoy a pleasant moment of relaxation and sharing with other guests, in a natural and peaceful setting.
We travelled through the diversity of this wild territory in a horse-drawn carriage. One hour safari searching buffalo or Przewalski's horses. The many stops brought us close to the animals, our guides shared their knowledge with us and help to understand the major role that large herbivores play in maintaining biodiversity.
Our guides told us that in spring, we can observe the fawns hidden by deer in the flowering edges of the forests, the nurseries formed by newborn bison. In Autumn, you witness the deer's bellowing and its love ballets or the spectacular battles between male bison.
